The Congress, by Public Law 100-307, as amended, has called on the President to issue each year a proclamation designating the first Thursday in May as a “National Day of Prayer.”

As we witness turmoil throughout our country that are too numerous to describe, I encourage you to turn to God in prayer for our nation on Thursday, May 2nd. From praying for our own families and church to praying for the country as a whole, prayer is one of the most, if not the most, influential actions we can take. God is greater than any of the evil we see or experience in our nation; he is able to intervene in any and every situation; he knows the best way forward; he knows what we need as a country; he knows what each of us is called to do on its behalf. He created each and every person in this nation in his image and likeness, and Jesus died to save each and every person in the nation, and none are outside the reach of his salvation.

On Thursday, May 2nd, we will have Morning Prayer at 8 a.m. in the Nave of the church, and intercessory prayer at 11 to 12:00 p.m. in Fr. Craig’s office. Additionally, the Nave will be open for prayer from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for individual prayer. The Books of Common Prayer are available to use as prayer resources. Collects 27-33 & 37-39 on pages 654-657 are specifically for the nation.

Let us pray!
