Ministry Teams

Nursery

Our professionally staffed nursery serves our youngest saints (ages 0-4). We are always in need of volunteers to help our staff care for these precious little ones.

Children

Jesus said, “Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God.” We love our children, and we believe they are a vital part of our worshiping community. Join us as we disciple children ages 5-12 at Sunday School, Little Church, and other weekly ministries.

Youth

Our Youth Group promotes faith, fellowship, fun and often involves food for youth in 6th-12th grades. Our ministry develops relationships among the youth, and we also aim to help strengthen families.

May our hearts’ prayer be that of the psalmist in Psalm 78: “… tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the LORD, His power, and the wonders that He has done… and they in turn would tell their children. Then they would put their trust in God and not forget His deeds but would keep His commands.”

College

Our college ministry serves local students at Georgia Southern, Savannah College of Art and Design, and Savannah Tech. Our goal is to provide hospitable spaces of evangelism and discipleship.

Altar Guild

Altar Guild members prepare all things necessary for the celebration of the Eucharist or any of the other sacraments and offices of the church. The preparations are done in a manner so that all services may be conducted in decency, order, and beauty for the worship of God and His Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord. Made up of volunteers of both genders, any age, and families, it is a ministry for those who feel led to serve at the Lord’s table. Volunteers serve on a rotation and should be able to work well with others, be detailed-oriented, willing to learn, and have a spirit that understands that the Altar Guild is carrying on ancient and holy traditions.

Flower Guild

Flower Guild members adorn the altar for worship with flowers and greenery, and other areas of the church for special feasts such as Christmas and Easter. This work is done on Friday or Saturday in preparation for the Sunday services. They meet annually for a hands-on workshop and demonstrations, but previous experience is not needed to join the Flower Guild. Those new to arranging are paired with a more experienced arranger, and each pair serves five to six times each year.

Music Ministry

There are many opportunities available for musicians of all skill levels within our church. Those interested in singing may join the choir for students in first grade and above, Choristers, or one of the two choirs for adults: Parish Choir and Compline Choir. Although our Sunday morning choirs are not auditioned, membership within a choir requires the ability to match pitch consistently, a commitment to regular attendance, and a desire to improve one’s own musical ability. We have a variety of volunteer ensembles that rehearse weekly. Those interested in playing instruments during worship may join the Folk Group, an ensemble of varied instrumentation, or the The Bells of Christ Church, which plays seven octaves of handbells and chimes. We also have musicians share their talents during worship in solo and small ensemble performances as well.

Lectors

The reading of the Old Testament and New Testament lessons from scripture is offered by Lectors, who each read once per quarter. Those who speak clearly and have a desire to thoughtfully present the readings are well-suited to this ministry. Lectors are given training on speaking, using the microphone, and in the mechanics of getting up to the lectern from the pews in the nave.

Intercessory Prayer Ministry

At our 10:30 a.m. service two teams are available for intercessory prayer in the corners of the nave.

Individuals serve on a three person team once each month. Those wanting to serve should have a desire to be used in prayer ministry and/or previous experience in prayer ministry.

Eucharistic Ministers

Eucharistic Ministers serve in worship services with the priests and deacons, particularly during the celebration of communion.

They lead the prayers of the people, serve the chalice (wine) during communion, read scripture, and other duties that may be needed.

Lay Eucharist Ministers serve once or twice each month and undergo training and licensing before assuming the role.

Eucharistic Visitors

The Eucharistic Visitors take communion to those persons that the clergy request; they are often those who are home bound, in nursing homes, or in hospice. Some they visit once each week and others once each month.

Those who serve in this ministry are also trained Eucharistic Ministers, so they are familiar with administering communion from serving in this capacity during worship.

Feastmakers

The Feastmakers, under the direction of our Deacon/Chef Greg Malley, help prepare the larger food functions in the church.

The group is lively and fun, and the only skills needed are a willing spirit and the desire to help create better community through careful food preparation.

No previous cooking skills are needed, only a generous heart and a desire to work as part of a great team.

Feastmakers generally gather one to two hours before a meal is served and help to clean up the kitchen afterwards.

Hospitality Guild

Hospitality is the time after our 10:30 a.m. Sunday service where all gather for a time of refreshments and fellowship.

Members of the Hospitality Guild serve several times throughout the year by preparing finger food for the congregation to eat and helping to serve the food and clean up the kitchen afterwards.

There is minimal training needed and those of all ages and stages are welcome to join in.

Ushers

Ushers welcome worshippers to our services and help all feel at home by greeting them, handing out Orders of Worship, and providing directions.

They also pass the collection plates during the offertory and direct communicants to the altar for communion.

Ushers serve on teams which rotate throughout the year.

Daughters of the Holy Cross

The Steadfast Chapter of the Order of Daughters of the Holy Cross is an Anglican Order of Women that have taken a four-fold  vow of Prayer, Service, Study and Evangelism.

We live out our rule of life by praying for the clergy, staff and congregation; study of the Word of God; serving others and sharing the gospel.

All Anglican women are invited to join through a discernment process.
