Family Ministry
We offer a variety of ministries for the children and youth of our parish. To learn more or become involved in these ministries, please contact Erin Macdonald our Children’s Ministry Coordinator.
Nursery (0-3)
Nursery is available for infants through four years of age during the Adult Sunday School hour (9:15am-10:15am) and during the 10:30 a.m. Sunday Service.
Sunday School
We desire for children to know and embrace that God is their Creator and that He loves them greatly. Gospel Play is an imaginative, hands-on approach to teaching our children how to live lives of worship during the Sunday School hour. It uses a hands-on, experiential method to support, challenge, nourish, and guide children as they learn God’s larger redemptive story within liturgical life together. Children are encouraged to ask questions and wonder about God’s Story in an environment structured to foster curious exploration of the Biblical Narrative through storytelling and play. In every Gospel Play meeting we are spiritually guiding children to encounter Jesus Christ and experience the power of the Gospel.
Little Church (4-11)
During the middle of our 10:30 a.m. service, children (4 years-5th grade) have their own Gospel reading, homily (mini-sermon) and liturgical worship. Little Church is meant to form our children in the liturgical way of worship. We sing together, hear the Scriptures, profess the Apostle’s Creed, pray for each other, confess our sins to each other, and exchange the peace of the Lord. We typically close Little Church with hands-on activities to help children internalize the Gospel lessons through art. The children return to the service to join their families for Communion. Younger children are welcome when accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Youth Group
Our Youth Group promotes faith, fellowship, fun and often involves food for youth in 6th-12th grades. Our ministry develops relationships among the youth, and we also aim to help strengthen families. We recognize that our youth are an integral part of the church body and intentionally invite our youth to participate in many areas of church life. As we interact with, serve, and pray for our youth, may our hearts’ prayer be that of the psalmist in Psalm 78: “… tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the LORD, His power, and the wonders that He has done… and they in turn would tell their children. Then they would put their trust in God and not forget His deeds but would keep His commands.” This is our calling as a church. The Youth Group meets during the school year on Wednesday evenings and engages in a variety of faith- and fun-filled activities together.
Music Ministry
Our Music Ministry is comprised of five choral and instrumental ensembles for participants 1st grade through adult. The ensembles’ primary service is to lead music in our corporate worship while offering their musical talents to the Lord.
Acolytes
Acolytes serve in worship services by processing with the cross, assisting the clergy in preparing the Lord’s Table, and serving in any way needed for the ministry of the Word and Sacrament. Acolytes learn not only the mechanics of worship, but to graft in their hearts a devotion of belonging to God Himself. They serve on a rotating basis throughout the year, and depending on the type of service, we can use multiple people. We invite youth 5th grade and up who can carry the cross and/or torches to participate.
Safeguarding
The Gulf Atlantic Diocese, led by Rev. Leah Slawson, oversees safeguarding through prevention, training, and response. Churches must follow the Safeguarding Our People Policy, complete required training, display the “Choose the Light” poster, and report misconduct via form, hotline (904) 441-0011, or email to trauma‑informed external responders.
